Hey Everyone,I wanted to get your opinion on allowing a representative from each instrument manufacturer to access the private forum. I have had a request for access by one of the vendors and wanted to first run it past you all. I personally have no problem allowing access and think that they will likely contribute well to this forum. My only concerns are these: 1. I don't want it to be just one instrument manufacturer. I will invite a rep from each to participate. Basically I don't want the forums to be dominated by one manufacturer. 2. I want examiners to be able to talk about instruments openly without feeling like they need to hold back criticism because a rep is present. Can I get any and all thoughts on this topic? Thanks. ------------------ Ralph Hilliard PolygraphPlace Owner & Operator http://www.polygraphplace.com

Ralph, I have no problem with instrument reps on this site. I agree they could give some great insight. You may get a rep from all different companies but they may or may not participate.I think that Chris from Lafayette would give good information without being overly bias to his particular instrument. I would imagine the others would also. I guess I assumed that if the reps wanted to be here they were, so its alright with me. Jack ------------------

Ralph;I too like the idea- it would be good way to let the manufacturers know what's on the mind of the examiner for improvements as well. Bob IP: Logged |

Ralph,No problem by me. Only one thought though. As I understand it, this area is for examiners only and our private (non-public) discussions of polygraph issues. I sincerely believe all of the instrument manufacturers will have something to contribute with the desire to better their product and our abilities; however, I don't want to see this forum turn into a competitive sales arena. There are other venues for sales... Otherwise, "bring 'em on!" Jim IP: Logged |

Ralph,I'm with Jim on this. ------------------ It's a thankless job, but somebody's gotta do it. [This message has been edited by polyops (edited 11-21-2003).] IP: Logged |

I think having the vendors on the forum will help both the examiner and the vendor. I say go for it. I don't worry about the sales aspect. The users of the forum would certainly take care of that if it were to start.IP: Logged |

I think its great,(!!!) to have the vendors present in the Examiners Forum. "Good for them good for Us". Question though....Beyond the Polygraph Instrument Manufacturers are we to include some of the Software Vendors, Poly Insurance Agents etc... Not that I would mind, but just wondering....Tony IP: Logged |

I think that it would be alright for certified vendors to have access. It would help us as much as it would them, I am sure.IP: Logged |

Thanks for all your feedback. I have sent invitations to Axciton, Limestone, Stoelting and Lafayette to join us in the forums. So far Sue from Axciton is the only 'taker'.As for software vendors, insurance...well I'm not opposed to it, but I can't really think of who that might be except for CMA and Identifi. I'm not real sure CMA would even have an interest, but if Keith Hedges from Identifi wanted access, he could certainly have it. For the most part, I will simply let folks come to me rather than seeking them out. The reason I asked about vendors is that I had a vendor who requested access so I wanted to invite the others as well. ------------------ Ralph Hilliard PolygraphPlace Owner & Operator http://www.polygraphplace.com

The new guy here, but I see it as a benefit to have end-users and designers together.IP: Logged |

Ralph;Good idea on having vendors in the forum. May I suggest that you also invite the polygraph software folks as well? I'm thinking of Keith Hedges and people like him who actually write the polygraph scoring programs. They need to hear about our problems in order to "tweak" their programs. Chip ------------------
